Gardeners
A living, communal classroom for teaching sustainable gardening practices. The Gardeners' projects teach how to both improve your soil and grow in it!
The Garden
Whether you’re a complete novice or a master gardener, you’re a perfect fit for the Gardeners project! All are welcome in our communal garden, where we offer free, hands-on experiences in a variety of sustainable gardening practices. Our garden is completely community-powered, so it’s a great way to make new friends as you learn new skills. We appreciate contributions of every type, so even if physical labor is outside of your current capabilities, your presence is still valued and welcomed. As the heart of our community, the SD Garden is a place to gather and grow in every sense.
Compost Crew
Our Garden would be nothing without our Compost Crew, since healthy soil is the foundation of a healthy community. The Compost Crew teaches the basics of this essential garden practice by closing the loop, returning precious minerals and nutrients to our soil while reducing waste and sequestering carbon. We also provide a necessary community service, acting as a drop-off point for food scraps and leaves, keeping them out of local landfills. If you’d like to learn how to make your own “black gold” or if gardening is your favorite form of exercise, then the Compost Crew is for you!
