Knowledge Share

Knowledge Share creates welcoming spaces where neighbors can come together to share stories, skills, and knowledge that nourish both minds and hearts.

What is Knowledge Share?

There are so many skills and concepts that contribute to sustainability- it cannot be done alone! We all have things to learn, and things we can teach. In our Knowledge Share focus area, we all contribute what we can and explore new topics & skills together.

Turners Reading Group

The full name of our book group is Sustain DuPage Turners, and we focus on sustainability-themed reading. We gather in the garden or at local libraries to discuss book selections or, sometimes, simply to have a conversation about a particular topic.

Movie Nights

Our Movie Nights bring people together around thoughtful environmental films that both educate and offer real-world solutions. We enjoy good food and good conversation, focused on a movie we watch in the garden.

Skill Share Events

Our community is full of people gifted with knowledge and talent in various areas. Sustain DuPage provides a way for these folks to share what they know! Often nestled within other project areas like Gardeners, Seed Cache, and Creators, we support volunteers in hosting Skill Share events to spread this wisdom throughout the group.

In previous events, we have explored dying cloth with plants, fire-starting skills, making biochar, and making garden trellising with willow and vines.

We also welcome knowledgeable people to present on topics they are passionate about. If you have an idea for a presentation, workshop, or event, reach out to us!
